About the Library Staff
Alethea La Mar is our library director. Before coming to the library she worked as a financial manager. She is an active member of the Morning Sun Centenary United Methodist Church where she serves as a Lay Leader, Treasurer of the United Methodist Women, and assists with the Community Clothes Closet. Alethea is involved in many community organizations like the Lioness Club. She has two children and four grandchildren who she cherishes deeply. She is open to suggestions about the library from the public.
Amie Herrick has lived in Morning Sun her whole life. Her and her husband, Adam, have decided to settle down here and are expecting there first child. Amie graduated from Southeastern Community College with an Office Administrative Assistant Degree. Amie enjoys spending time with her family and friends and reading.
Jolene Strawhacker works on Saturdays. She has lived in Morning Sun her whole life. She works full time in Wapello at Community Bank. She enjoys filling in part time here and visiting with the patrons.
Patricia Hamann is a part time employee. She has lived in Morning Sun her whole life. She is married and has two children and three grandchildren. Patricia volunteers two mornings a week at the elementary school. She enjoys walking, quilting, and especially reading. She says, "working at the library has been very rewarding."
Val Klohr is a part time employee. She has lived in Morning Sun since 1991. She has four children, four grandchildren, and one dog, Laci. She is a member of the Lioness organization and volunteers at the food pantry. She is a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church, helps teach Sunday school, and is on the outreach committee. She loves to read and really enjoys working at the library.
